At our recent AGM held at NZ House, new Officers and President were elected. Chrissie Colbeck is now Treasurer and Catherine Hutton NZWA Secretary. We were all delighted to welcome our new President, Marianne Harper and huge praise and thanks was given to Tricia O’Connor who stood down from the role.
Marianne was born in Hastings and persued a career in bookselling and publishing, starting the first campus bookshop at Waikato University in 1976 where she completed an MA in History. She worked in the UK from 1980 for the Economists’ Bookshop, Macmillan Education, NCVO, the Department of Health and BAAF (adoption and fostering). Before retirement she worked for a grant-giving charity in Fulham and also re-engaged with NZWA on their first overseas trip.
After rapidly becoming a committee member, she took on the Treasurer role and is now President. Marianne looks forward to a busy and rewarding two years, building on the long history of successful lunches, outings, parties and special projects that her predecessors and hard-working committees have organised over time.
