A small group from NZWA thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the Brand Museum in London. An introductory talk informed us that the collection has been solely collected by one man, Robert Opie, and currently numbers over 14,000 items. Starting in the Victorian era, we marvelled at packaging, newspapers, equipment, games and toys through the ages until the present day. A history lesson unfolded as the items on display, and board games in particular, indicated what was happening in Britain and the world. We all chatted constantly as memories flooded back, inspired by the visual feast!
