Our visit was awe inspiring as it is one of the largest cathedrals in Europe with the greatest overall length of any Gothic cathedral. Our tour took nearly two hours but there is still much more to see and learn should NZWA return to this magnificent building. We found the town of Winchester lovely and the area surrounding the Cathedral particularly tranquil and attractive.
After the tour, Anne Ormerod very kindly hosted 14 of us in her pretty home nearby. We are all extremely grateful to her for a delicious lunch and generous glasses of wine.
After lunch several members also took a tour of Winchester College which again was very local.
